Jørn Barkenæs

Jørn Barkenæs

Jørn is a senior finance professional with over thirty years of experience. Before joining Northsea Capital as a financial analyst and partner, he worked as an independent management consultant focusing on financial management, business development and project management.

He has experience as CEO, CFO and general management from solar energy, oil and gas exploration, production, infrastructure projects, trade, shipping and seafood. He also holds active board positions and has held more than thirty board positions.

Jørn has an MBA in finance and is a certified financial analyst from the Norwegian School of Economics. He has an MSc in general business operations from BI Norwegian Business School.

Per Arne Solberg

Per Arne Solberg

Per Arne brings more than 30 years of experience in finance, sales leadership and fundraising for SMEs and early-stage companies. He has held senior roles at Pareto Forvaltning, ACTA, CMA Asset Management and Techpros, working on refinancing, equity placement and tailored leasing solutions.

Since 2018 he has specialised in preparing start-ups for external capital and leveraging technology to streamline and scale business models. Deeply interested in how advanced language models can support business development, he pairs tech insight with an extensive investor network.

Per Arne holds a degree in marketing economics from BI Norwegian Business School.

Bjørn Simonsen

Bjørn Simonsen

Bjørn has experience from leading positions in DNB, Nordic American Banking Corp and Oslobanken.

He was involved in the establishment and management of the corporate department in Karl Johan Fonds and was one of the founders of Nordic Trustee AS.

He has also been managing partner in a project development/consulting company and CEO of the farming company Sponfish AS. He assists companies with strategic advice and business development, and has extensive board experience.

Bjørn has a degree in business administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and an MBA in finance from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.

Markus Harting

Markus Harting

Markus is a senior executive with more than 25 years' experience in the global energy sector. He blends technical, operational, economic and regulatory expertise, and has led projects across the entire upstream E&P value chain—both conventional and unconventional.

He has negotiated major agreements with IOCs, NOCs, independents and investment funds across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia. His track record includes taking new-venture opportunities from concept and due diligence through project financing, market entry and joint-venture operations, as well as overseeing several significant oil and gas discoveries.

Markus serves on multiple boards and industry councils, including AIEN and CEEC, and maintains a wide network among operators, investors and private-equity firms.

Geir Ytreland

Geir Ytreland

Geir is a geologist with more than 40 years of experience in the international petroleum industry. He is now an independent geologist based in Norway. He has worked as a Principal Advisor with Gaffney, Cline & Associates, UK, as an advisor and project manager in development and cooperation projects for the Norwegian government in East Timor, Afghanistan and several Latin American and African countries.

He has managed energy development projects financed by the EU in Lebanon and Ukraine. He worked as a geoscientist and explorationist at Unocal for 13 years and at Norsk Hydro for seven years in Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Latin America, and as General Manager for Norsk Hydro (oil and gas) in Venezuela from 1995 to 2000.

Geir holds a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Bergen in Norway.

Mats Hagen

Mats Hagen

Mats is a business development and technology professional with 12+ years of experience across sales, marketing, and product-focused technology initiatives. With a solid technical foundation in product development and AI, he helps companies turn strategy into scalable, commercial outcomes.

Based in Portugal, Mats acts as a bridge between Nordic business culture and global delivery teams—aligning stakeholders, clarifying needs, and ensuring solutions are built to scale. He is especially strong in translating complex technology into clear value propositions that decision-makers understand and can act on.

His core focus areas include scalable product development, international go-to-market, and AI-driven services—supporting organisations from early discovery and positioning to execution, delivery, and growth.

Mats holds a bachelor's degree in Frontend and Mobile Development.
